Axiom is looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join one of Europe’s most ambitious clean-energy hardware start-ups and take ownership of the electrical architecture behind a new generation of modular synthetic fuel plants.

This is a senior, hands-on opportunity to solve complex industrial power challenges, influence critical design decisions and help scale breakthrough technology from megawatt prototypes into large-scale production.

The Company
Our client is a well-funded, vertically integrated clean-energy company developing synthetic fuels for industries that cannot easily be electrified.

Its technology combines direct air capture, hydrogen production and chemical processing to create a practical alternative to fossil fuels. With its technology already proven at pilot scale, the business is now entering a major phase of industrial expansion.

You will join a highly technical, engineering-led team where decisions are made quickly, hierarchy is minimal and experienced engineers are trusted to own complete systems.

Responsibilities
  • Own AC power architecture for multi-megawatt industrial plants.
  • Design power conversion, distribution and balance-of-plant systems.
  • Produce schematics, protection strategies, cable calculations and panel designs.
  • Develop three-phase systems for motors, pumps, heaters, drives and controls.
  • Lead HAZOP, HAZID and FMEA studies in hydrogen and hazardous environments.
  • Ensure CE/UKCA compliance while mentoring engineers and supporting scale-up.
What We’re Hiring
  • 5–15 years of industrial electrical design experience.
  • Experience in power systems, process plants or large-scale energy infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of three-phase power, protection, cable sizing, VFDs and control panels.
  • Functional safety expertise, ideally including IEC 61508 and SIL/PL determination.
  • Knowledge of ATEX environments and hydrogen electrical safety is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in EPLAN, AutoCAD or SolidWorks Electrical, with end-to-end system ownership.
The Opportunity
  • Competitive base salary, with flexibility for exceptional candidates.
  • Significant early-stage equity and long-term growth potential.
  • £6,000 annual location allowance.
  • Visa sponsorship and extensive relocation support for international candidates.
  • Full lifecycle ownership, from architecture and safety to manufacturing and field deployment.
  • Freedom to challenge assumptions and create systems optimised for cost, reliability and large-scale production
  • Clear progression into broader technical leadership and departmental ownership.
